The UK tour follows Schofield’s critically acclaimed fifth studio album, "Far As I Can See"released in the UK in February 2014. (Provogue Records / Mascot Label Group).
Over the last decade Schofield has earned a formidable international reputation as one of the most innovative and revered contemporary blues inspired guitarists on the world stage today.
Schofield "transcends comparisons, undeniably his own man with his own sound and style. There isn’t a better British blues guitarist playing currently" (Guitarist Magazine).
Matt has taken his music to nearly two dozen countries and has played on some of the most prestigious stages in the world, including the North Sea and Montreal Jazz Festivals, and as a regular featured artist at the annual Allman Brothers Band family of festivals including Wanee, Peachfest and Mountain Jam.
Matt returns to the UK in November after extensive North American and European summer touring - a result of the ever increasing demand for his distinctive approach to contemporary guitar music across the globe.
As the Boston Herald describes, "Blessed with a voice strong enough to front a band without his guitar, Schofield’s mastery of his instrument imbues every lick of this genre-blurring blast with a swinging and soulful touch."
Always pushing the frontiers of the British Blues tradition far beyond its 12 bars, fans and critics agree that "In Schofield, the UK has produced the best blues guitarist from any country in decades." (L.A. Daily News).
The new album, "Far As I Can See", finds Schofield in stunning form. "Throughout the album Schofield manages to create entirely new blues ideas and innovate on the works of his predecessors" (On Stage Magazine).
"A fiercely individual selection of tunes. A modern blues guitarist in the truest sense of the word, Schofield is worthy of standing shoulder to shoulder with the best of the genre." (Premier Guitar Magazine).
"There is an unadorned thrill in hearing this age old music reformulated in such fresh new ways. This stirringly complex album is recommended because of its subject matter and textures as it is for Matt Schofield’s justly heralded performances on guitar." (Something Else Reviews).
In addition to five studio albums, Schofield has released four live albums. A "master of tone" and influential guitarist’s guitarist, Schofield’s "hear-it-and-weep tone mixed with to-die –for-chops" (Guitar & Bass Magazine) prompted an instructional DVD release and forth coming transcription book from iconic music publisher Hal Leonard. Collaborations with some of the finest equipment manufacturers in the world have inspired a Matt Schofield Two-Rock Signature Amplifier, Signature Strings and Overdrive Pedals.
Matt is the proud recipient of awards including the British Blues Awards Guitarist of the Year 2010, 2011 & 2012 (making him the first guitarist in the British Blues Awards Hall of Fame), Mojo magazine’s Blues Album of the Year 2011, and British Blues Awards Album of the Year 2010. Just a couple of years into his solo career Schofield was rated in the top ten British blues guitarists of all time by Guitar & Bass Magazine alongside Eric Clapton and Peter Green and in the ‘Penguin Book of Blues Recordings’ as one of only two living British artists to receive a 4-star rating.
Over the last decade he has continued to prove worthy of and build upon this praise. With every record and every performance Schofield demonstrates why "every guitarist and blues fan should consider this as essential listening." (All Out Guitar).
